Challenges of charging pile facilities construction in China

The charging infrastructure construction of new energy vehicles is in the initial stage, and there are still some problems, such as the difficulty of construction coordination, the immature business model, and the uncoordinated development of vehicle piles.

1. Construction coordination is difficult. Facilities construction needs many preconditions, such as planning, land use, power and so on. In the process of implementation, it involves many competent departments and related enterprises. Facing many stakeholders, it is difficult to coordinate.

2. The business model is not mature. Because of the high construction cost, the operating enterprises are in the low profit or even loss level, and there is no mature business model that can be widely applied and promoted.

3. The development of vehicle pile is not coordinated. As of December 2019, the number of charging piles in China is 1.219 million, and the vehicle pile ratio is 3.4:1; in some regions, the growth of new energy vehicles is fast, but the scale of charging infrastructure construction is insufficient.

Focus and trend of construction and development of charging pile

Based on the industrial ecology and the construction status of new energy vehicle charging pile in China, the charging pile will be further integrated with 5g and Internet of things.

1. Smart charging pile. With the intelligent network connection of charging pile, the cloud can obtain the status, charging data and damage degree of the charging pile and monitor it; users can also search the location of charging equipment through mobile phone, and access the system and charge payment through mobile phone client.

2、V2G。 Using V2G technology can realize the two-way communication and two-way energy flow between the electric vehicle and the power grid, which can effectively manage the charging and discharging process of the electric vehicle, reduce the impact of the electric vehicle load on the power grid, and make full use of the battery resources of the electric vehicle to increase the flexibility and stability of the energy management of the grid.

3. High power fast charging station. DC fast charging station can meet the temporary and emergency charging requirements, and high-power charging is the key supporting technology. High power charging technology can realize "charging for 10-15 minutes and driving range of 300 km", increasing the convenience of charging. (source: China automotive industry information network)
